(Brawley Police announce a DUI Checkpoint)... They say it will be set-up Friday night from 8 pm to midnight.
They are not saying where the checkpoint will be set up. The Department says DUI Checkpoint locations are determined based on data showing incidents of impaired driving related crashes. They say the primary purpose of a DUI Checkpoint is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off the road. Keep in mind, impaired driving is not only caused by alcohol. It can also be caused by narcotics, illegal or legal. While marijuana is legal for recreational use, it is still illegal to drive under the influence of marijuana.
