The City of El Centro has reinstated its Federal Employee Extension Program
. The program provides temporary relief for furloughed federal employees and those working without pay. To apply for the program, applicants must submit proof of employment with the federal government along with a copy of their most recent city utility bill. Once approved, customers will be eligible for the program for the duration of the shutdown. After the shutdown, the City's Finance Department, will develop a payment plan for customers that are two or more months delinquent. Utility service will continue and no penalty fees will be assessed during the shutdown period. Information and applications are available at El Centro City Hall.
