(Rig burns throughout the night)....The rig was eastbound on Interstate 8.

At 10:44 Monday night, just east of Highway 115, the driver noticed a fire on the trailer. He pulled over and called 911. Within minutes, before fire crews could arrive on scene, the semi was fully engulfed in flames. The CHP says the semi was on the right-hand shoulder of the Interstate and continued to burn. They say the driver had gotten out of the rig and was walking around uninjured. Holtville fire had the fire out at just before midnight. A tow truck was called to take the rig away. Crews, however, remained on scene until 6 am Tuesday cleaning up debris from the incident.
