A special ceremony was held at the Brawley Post Office Friday.

The historic building is now the Walter Francis Ulloa Memorial Post Office Building. The designation of the United States Postal Facility was proposed by Congressman Raul Ruiz with the support of the entire California Congressional delegation and passed out of the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability in September of 2024. The designation was signed into law in January of this year. Walter Francis Ulloa was a Brawley native, attending Sacred Heart School and graduating from Brawley Union High School before he attained a law degree and then began a business career. After buying radio stations in El Centro and Brawley he created Entravision, the largest Hispanic radio network in the United States. The Ulloa family, his wife Alexandra, son Bruno, and other family members, were in attendance. A plaque with the new name of the post office was unveiled in the lobby of the facility.
