According to the new numbers, unemployment was down in Imperial County. The Imperial County jobless rate for March came in at 16.4 %. That is down from a revised 17.2% in February. The March numbers were slightly higher than the year ago estimate of 16.3%. This compares with an unadjusted unemployment rate of 5.3% for California and 4.2% for the nation during the same period. According to the numbers provided by the Labor Market Information Division of the Employment Development Department, there were 12,000 eligible workers unemployed in March out of a labor force of 73,000. Imperial County had the second highest unemployment in the state, just behind Colusa County who recorded a 17.4% unemployment rate in March.
