The District includes San Diego and Imperial Counties. The Federal Prosecutors for the District filed 135 border-related cases last week. The cases include transportation of illegal aliens, bringing in aliens for financial gain, reentering the US after deportation, deported aliens found in the United States and importation of controlled substances. The Southern District of California is the 4th busiest federal district, largely due to a high volume of border related crimes. San Diego and Imperial Counties share a 140 mile border with Mexico. They also prosecute a significant number of cases related to terrorism, organized crime, drugs, white collar fraud, violent crime, cybercrime, human trafficking and national security
