U. S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Calexico Commercial Facility made a big seizure last week.
On Thursday, October 10, CBP officers at the Calexico Commercial Facility, referred a tractor-trailer rig to secondary inspection. The truck was carrying a shipment manifested as green onions. In secondary, a CBP K-9 team alerted officers to inspect the shipment more closely. A physical examination led to the discovery of over 600 packages hidden in the green onions. The packages contained over 646 pounds of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $775,000. The driver, a valid border crossing card holder, was turned over to Homeland Security Investigations.
