(Jobless rate down slightly)....The latest unemployment report was released Friday.

Unemployment for September came in at 19.2%. That is down from a revised 20.6% reported for August. Unemployment reports are provided by the Labor Market Information Division of the Employment Development Department. The September unemployment rate is above the year-ago estimate of 18.9%. It compares with an unadjusted unemployment rate of 5.3% for the state and a 3.9% for the nation during the same period. The report indicates 14,600 eligible workers were unemployed in September out of a labor force of 75,700 in Imperial County.
