(Valley Fire)...Cal Fire issued an update Friday morning.

(Thursday Update)...It was released Thursday morning. The County Public Health Department issues the COVID 19 updates. The latest numbers indicate there have been 303 deaths as a result of COVID 19 in Imperial County. 63,395 patients have tested for the virus. 11,183 have tested positive. 10, 430 of those have recovered. There are currently 450 active cases of COVID 19 in Imperial County.

(Cal Fire issues an update)...It was issued Thursday morning. They say the El Dorado fire is now 23 percent contained. The fire started September 5th from fireworks used in a Gender Reveal. Tghe fire, near Yucaipa in San Bernardino County has reportedly burned 12,610 acres. A Task Force from Imperial County was sent to assist in that fire last Saturday evening. They are reportedly still on scene. Evacuations have increased, as have the Road closures. Cal Fire says the El Dorado Fire is still extremely active, being fueld by alot of brush, along with a hot, dry and unstable atmosphere.

(Firefighters are making headway)...A Valley Fire update was released Thursday morning. The fire is burning in the Alpine area. It was first reported September 5th. According to the update the fire is now 32 percent contained. It has burned 17,665 acres. The cause of the fire was a tractor fire near Japatul. Cal Fire says the fire has damaged 11 structures. 51 structures, both residential and commercial, have been destroyed. Evacuation orders and Road closures are still in place. Two injuries have been reported. Cal Fire says they caught a major break when strong Santa Ana winds failed to materialize this week.

(Yuma ceremonies have been canceled)...They are hopeful they will resume next year. There are sveral ceremonies that have been canceled. They are all 9/11 memorial ceremonies. Yuma officials say the yearly ceremonies have resulted in some the lkargest gatherings in Yuma. They will not be held this year, because of the COVID 19 pandemic restrictions. The 9/11 observances are mostly hosted by the Yuma Fire Department.
