They should prepare for minor delays as a key stretch of the road near the Downtown port of entry temporarily closes for utility repairs. Beginning August 10th, First Street will be closed to all traffic between Paulin Avenue and Rockwood Avenue. They say the 4-week closure is necessary to accommodate critical sewer infrastructure improvements serving the Calexico Pedestrian West Land Port of Entry. Detours will be clearly marked. The project is expected to wrap-up by early September, ahead of the Fall Season.
