More than $41 million in grant funding has been awarded California law enforcement agencies.

The money comes through Proposition 64, which directs the California Highway patrol to administer grants for impaired driving education, prevention, and enforcement programs. The funds come from taxes on cannabis and cannabis products sold in California. Among the local agencies receiving grant funds are the Brawley, Calexico, El Centro, and Imperial Police Departments as well as the Imperial County Sheriff's Office. The Sheriff's Office also received an education grant to teach local communities about impaired driving laws, while highlighting the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
