The Imperial Valley is being rocked by a swarm of earthquakes.

According to the Southern California Earthquake Data Center, more than 300 earthquakes have been reported through the weekend. Most of them were micro earthquakes with a magnitude 3.0 and lower but there have been several a 4.0 and above. The strongest was recorded at 12:10 a.m. Sunday. The epicenter of all the shakers is about 2 miles WSW of Brawley. As a precaution, the City of Brawley activated their Emergency Operations Center to monitor the earthquake activity. According to the City, as of Sunday afternoon, there were no reports of significant damage to City infrastructure or critical public facilities. City personnel have responded to and assessed reported structural concerns in the community.

The swarm apparently originates at an active fault at the extreme southern end of the San Andreas Fault.
