The El Centro Police Department conducted two operations aimed at reducing underage access to alcohol.
ECPD partnered with the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) in the Minor Decoy and Shoulder Tap operations earlier this week. During the Minor Decoy operation, minors under direct supervision of ABC agents attempted to purchase alcohol from local retail establishments. The operation resulted in clerks being cited for illegally selling alcohol to minors. In the separate Shoulder Tap operation, ABC agents and El Centro Police officers arrested four suspects for furnishing alcohol to minors. Shoulder Tap operations target adults who purchase alcohol on behalf of individuals under the age of 21. Funding for the operations was provided through the ABC Alcohol Policing Partnership grant program.
