(IID Declares May as Water Safety Month)....The Imperial Irrigation District has declared the safety month for decades.

Dippy Duck, the IID Mascot for water safety turns 69 years old this summer.. Dippy Duck has spent the past 60 years promoting the message to stay way from canals, recognizing decades of success. The mascot's  program stands as a powerful symbol of IID's commitment to keep families safe around canals. The IID water safety program began in 1959. Dippy Duck came 7 years later. The program began with school outreach, and that remains. The basic safety rules also remain the same; Never swim in a canal, Never play, run, walk or ride a bike near a canal, never jump into a canal.
