Imperial Valley agencies gathered to warn parents about the dangers of heatstroke.

The Imperial County Public Health Department, Emergency Medical Services Agency, Imperial County Sheriff's Office, the California Highway Patrol, and Imperial County Fire Department joined forces to remind parents and caregivers to help prevent tragedies and warn  them about the dangers of heatstroke and leaving children in hot cars. Parents and caregivers are reminded to never leave a child in a vehicle unattended, even if the engine is running. Make a habit to check the back seat every time you exit the car and to always lock the car and keep the keys out of the reach of children. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, last year, 31 children lost their lives due to heatstroke from being left in hot vehicles. This led to the Prevent Hot Car Deaths: STOP. LOOK. LOCK. program.
