(Planning future Colorado River management)...The Bureau of Land Management has released a draft EIS.
The Draft Environmental Impact Statement evaluates the range of operational alternatives for managing the river reservoirs after 2026. The Draft EIS evaluates a broad range of potential operating strategies when the current agreements expire. It does not designate a preferred alternative, ensuring flexibility for a potential collective agreement. Prolonged drought and ongoing negotiations continue. The BLM Document will be published in the Federal Registrar on January 16, initiating a 45-day comment period that will end March 2nd, 2026.
