The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has issued a recall of shredded cheese.
The recall affects more than 1 million bags of shredded cheese sold at stores in 31 states. The cheese recalled includes shredded mozzarella, Italian-style, Pizza-style, and blended shredded cheese sold at stores including Aldi, Target, Walmart under various labels and manufactured by Great Lakes Cheese Company. The recall is due to the possibility of contamination with metal fragments which may cause internal injuries if consumed. The FDA says don't eat the affected products and throw them away. Customers may also return the cheese to where it was purchased for a refund. More product information is available on the FDA website.
