The Brawley City Council met this week and updated some key policies.
The council approved a second reading and formally adopted an ordinance establishing a Vacant Building Registration Program. This will assist code enforcement efforts. The council also received the Year-End Budget Report for Fiscal Year 2024 - 2025. The report summarizes revenues and expenditures for the year. The council approved a Cattle Call Family Night organized by Inferno. The event will take place Thursday, November 6, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and includes the temporary closure on North Plaza between Main and Fifth Streets. The event will feature family-friendly events in support of Cattle Call. The council also approved a Memorandum of Understanding between the City and Brawley Elementary School District to launch a youth soccer program. Two new personnel positions were authorized for the Fire Department. One fulltime firefighter and one limited-term firefighter position.
