(The Imperial Irrigation District and the Coachela Valley Association of Governments have secured a grant)....The $2.9 million grant is to plant 6,000 shade trees across Southern California Deserts.
The grant is from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection Inflation Reduction Act. The grant is for the Shade Trees For Southern California Desert's initiative. The new 3 year program will plant 6,000 shade trees across Imperial and Coachella Valleys to cool neighborhoods, improve air quality and promote community resilience. The project will launch this fall near the Salton Sesa.
