A three-alarm brush fire broke out Monday afternoon.

The fire was reported in the river bottom near Highway 115 and Adams Road in Brawley. Brawley Fire Department responded and quickly requested mutual aid from Imperial County fire Department and other Valley fire departments. Firefighters remained on scene for over 5 hours before gaining control. The fire was monitored overnight as it continued to smolder. Cause of the fire remains under investigation.
