(County Board of Supervisors began budget hearings this week).......The first budget hearing was held Tuesday.

It was at the weekly Board meeting. Deputy County Executive Officer Mayra Widmann presented the fiscal year 2025-26 preliminary budget of $755.8 million. It has a 6.3 % increase in General Funds, but offset by sharp deficits in specific accounts, including fire protection which is carrying nearly $14 million deficit. The County is also facing a State Deficit, a downgraded credit rating and multiple lawsuits. The Board Tuesday began hearing department reports and requests at the meeting Tuesday. The hearings will continue until there is a balanced document.
