U. S. Border Patrol agents seized 176 pounds of methamphetamine at the Highway 86 checkpoint.

On Friday, August 22, 2025, a sport utility vehicle approached the checkpoint on Highway 86. A Border Patrol K-9 Team alerted to the SUV and a subsequent inspection led to the discovery of hidden compartments in the vehicle. Numerous wrapped packages of methamphetamine were found in the compartments. A total of 176 pounds of the illegal drugs with a value of $150,000. Border patrol agents arrested two women, ages 42 and 36, U.S. citizens, for the smuggling attempt.
