(Monte Fire update)....The fire is burning near Lakeside in East San Diego County.

The fire started Tuesday afternoon. The Thursday morning update from CaFire shows the fire has burned 976 acres. They say the blaze is 25% contained. Officials say the fire continues to burn at a slow to moderate rate of speed. Crews were able to take advantage of favorable weather conditions overnight. Officials say the fire is still burning in a remote area with steep, rocky terrain. Crews are concentrating on building and improving containment lines. Because of the terrain, crews are being shuttled in by Helicopters. There have been some evacuations and more have been warned to be prepared to evacuate. Three firefighters have been injured. So far, no structures have been destroyed.
