(CBP is warning the public).....Scammers are claiming to be Customs and Border Protection Officers.

They are calling people in an effort to gain any type of personal information they can get. They are operating nationwide. The CBP says if you receive such a call, hang-up immediately. They say CBP and Border Patrol agents never call suspects asking for identifying information. And they never request money over the phone. And they never threaten citizens for any reason. Don't trust caller ID, Scammers can manipulate phone numbers. Never call the scammers back, for any reason. If a scam is suspected just hang up. If you want, you can report the incident to the Federal Trade Commission online.
