The number of apprehensions at the Southwest border has dramatically declined.
In March, the U.S. Border Patrol data shows that apprehensions at the southwest border have fallen to an average of around 230 per day. Previously, the daily encounters averaged about 5,100 per day, or about 155,000 per month. According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection Acting Commissioner Pete Flores, " The message is clear: the border is closed to illegal crossings, and for those willing to test our resolve, know this, you will be prosecuted, and you will be deported."
