Authorities are investigating an officer involved shooting in Yuma.
Shortly before noon on Monday, Yuma County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the 6300 block of W. County 12 1/2 Street after receiving reports of a man brandishing a shotgun. Officers issued verbal commands to the man telling him to drop the weapon however, the suspect pointed his shotgun at the deputies. Officers fired at the man, striking the suspect and causing him to drop the gun.The man was transported to Oneida Health for treatment of serious injuries. The Yuma Regional Critical Incident Response Team, an independent team comprised of investigators from multiple agencies, are investigating the incident. The deputies involved in the shooting have been placed on modified duty.
