A car smashed into a house Wednesday night.

The accident was reported shortly after 11:00 p.m. in the 1000 block of 1st Avenue in Yuma. Callers reported that a car had crashed into the house and came to rest on its side. The driver was able to get out of the vehicle on his own. The family occupying the house were not injured. Yuma Fire Technical Response Component was activated to remove the car from the house and shore up unstable sections of the home. The driver was transported to the hospital for evaluation of injuries. The family was able to stay in the house. The Yuma Police Department is investigating the accident.
