The City of El Centro will host their second National First Responders Day Saturday.
The event will honor the bravery and dedication of the city's first responders with nine new names added to the First Responders Wall. The event recognizes individuals from law enforcement, fire service, emergency medical services, and emergency dispatchers who have served the community. The nine inductees are Mario Sanabria, Efren Coronel, Jeff A. Mason and Larry W. Zinn from the El Centro Police Department. Chad Whitlock, Oscar jauregui, Thomas Garner, Michael " Pat " Apalategui, and Alvin " Lefty " Martin from the El Centro Fire Department. The public is invited to attend the ceremony at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, October 26, 2024. First Responders Park is located in the 1900 block of North Waterman in El Centro.
El Centro mayor Sylvia Marroquin said, " This is an opportunity to express deep gratitude to the men and women who protect and serve El Centro. Adding these nine names to the wall will ensure their contributions are remembered for future generations".
