A burning haystack has closed a roadway.

The fire was reported shortly after 6:30 p.m. Tuesday on Ross Road between State Route 111 and Bowker Road. The Imperial County Fire Department requested that Ross Road be shut down as the fire burned. Smoke from the fire blanketed El Centro.
