(The McCain fire has been burning since July 1).... Cal Fire says it is now 95 percent contained.

The fire was sparked by a vehicle fire on Westbound Interstate 8. It has since burned 1,595 acres North of I-8 between Campo and Jacumba. Officials say they are now transitioning to a patrol status, monitoring hot spots and addressing hazards. Damage from the fire was mostly kept to brush. No structures were damaged. There was one injury reported. The Thomson Fire in Butte County is now listed as fully contained. The strike team from Imperial County sent to assist in that fire returned home a couple days ago. That fire burned over 3,000 acres and destroyed several structures.
