(Labor Day rescue)....It happened Monday evening.

Ironically, the man rescued was working at the time. Officials say Yuma Fire was called at 7:30 Monday evening. A man was stuck over 50 feet in the air. The person was trimming trees in the 3700 block of West 15th Street in Yuma. A rescue crew found the man in the bucket of the Bucket Truck, that was over 50 feet in the air. The hydraulics on the lift apparently broke, and the man could not lower the bucket. The Department just happened to have a 100 foot aerial ladder truck, and a crew trained in high angle rescues. After vehicles were removed from the area, the ladder truck was moved into position and the man was brought down. The man had been stuck in the bucket over 50 feet in the air for about two hours before he was rescued. No injuries were reported in the rescue. The cause of the problem has still not been determined.
