(A multi-agency rescue)....It happened early Wednesday.

El Centro Border Patrol received a call from an individual who said he was part of a group of 6 who had entered the US illegally. The group was in the Jacumba Wilderness region, and the individual said they had run out of water and in need of assistance. Border Patrol agents working the area were notified and given the last known GPS coordinates. Air support was provided by the Department of Defense and El Centro Sector's Mountain Disrupt Unit also responded. At around 2:00 am the aircrew visually located the group about 4 miles north of the Inbternational Border. The Mountain Disrupt Unit made contact with the group about an hour later. All six were adult males from Mexico. The Unit checked the individuals to ensure none needed medical attention, and then safely escorted tthe men to an awaiting vehicle, and they were transported to the El Centro Processing Station. Since October, the El Centro Border Patrol agents have successfully rescued 286 individuals lost or in distress.
