(Five alarm fire),, It was reported in Niland.

The fire started as a brush fire Late Sunday afternoon. The fire jumped into the City at Fourth Street, aided by the wind. Structures ignited and mutual aid was requested. The fire continued to spread, and the went to five alarms. County Fire Chief said there were 500 to 600 evacuations as every Fire Department in the County responded. Yuma Fire also responded. Two Strike Teams from out of the County were also requested. Estrada said the winds were making it very difficult to get an upper hand on the fire. The Chief said as of around 8:00 pm there had been no injuries reported.
