U. S. Customs and Border Protection ( CBP ) officers seized fentanyl valued at $1.25 million Tuesday at the port of San Luis.

CBP officers found more than 80 packages of the deadly drug concealed in the gas tank of a vehicle being driven by a 43-year old woman. The packages contained a total of over 110 pounds of fentanyl , one of the largest seizures of fentanyl in Arizona. The woman driver was arrested.

On Thursday afternoon , U.S. Border Patrol agents at the Highway 86 checkpoint near Salton City encountered a 26-year old woman driving a Dodge Charger with her two infant children in the car. A Border Patrol canine team alerted to the vehicle and agents discovered 104 packages of methamphetamine hidden in the trunk and door panels of the car. The meth weighed nearly 115 pounds and has a street value of nearly a quarter million dollars. The woman , a U.S. citizen , was turned over to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. The infant children were turned over to Child Protective Services.

Also on Thursday afternoon , Border Patrol agents at the Interstate 8 Checkpoint near Pine Valley encountered a tractor trailer rig loaded with hay. A Border Patrol canine team alerted to the middle section of the trailer where agents discovered 12 people hidden inside a gap in the hay bales. The 12 , all adult men from Mexico , were removed. The driver , a 46-year old U.S. citizen was arrested.
