The Imperial Irrigation District has named a new General Manager.

Henry Martinez , the district's current Energy Department manager , will take over as chief executive of the District on January 1 , 2019. He will replace current general manager Kevin Kelley , who in November , announced his resignation. IID board president James Hanks said , " Mr. Martinez has a long and impressive background and I believe he has the skill-set and experience to assess where the IID is today and chart a course that takes the district to where it needs to be in the 21st century."

Martinez brings more than 40 years of experience in the utility sector to IID , holding key management roles in both energy and water areas , having worked for southern California Edison , the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and the Tennessee Valley Authority.

Martinez said that he realizes that the district is in a critical time , but that he is ready to move the organization ahead. He added , " I look forward to continuing to work to prioritize the needs of our ratepayers and implement the vision and direction provided by the IID Board of directors."
