(Senate Bill675 is going to the Governor)....The Bill was authored by Senator Steve Padilla.

Imperial County says they favor the spirit of the bill. The gact it would increase diversity and equitable representation on the County Air Pollution Control district governing board, it would strengthen transparency, expand opportunities for public participation and improve access to information regarding decisions that affect air quality and public health. The trouble is the bill comes with a lot of costs, including approximately $1.5 million in one time information technology, $4.5 million annually in ongoing staffing and administrative costs, and $410,000 annually for expanded air monitoring The bill does not provide any funding source from the state or anywhere else. The County says they cannot cover the costs all by themselves. Because of that, the county is asking Governor Gavin Newsom to veto the bill
