There's a new stop sign in El Centro.

The new sign was installed on 6th Street at Hamilton Avenue, making the intersection a four-way stop. According to the city, the new sign is intended to improve visibility, reduce vehicle conflicts, and enhance safety at the intersection. The city also announced that there is continuing street work scheduled this week. The 2026 Street Overlay Project, with asphalt rubber and aggregate membrane sealing scheduled. On Wednesday, August 26, work will take place on Manzanita, Jacaranda and Danenberg Drives from the alley to Eighth Street. Cypress Drive from Manzanita to Danenberg and Lenrey Avenue from Court to Lotus Avenue. 

On Thursday, August 27th, work will take place on Lotus Avenue from Court to Ross, 23rd Avenue from Desert Gardens to Ross and from Pepper to Ocotillo Drive, Desert Gardens from 24th to 22nd Streets, Peper Drive from 23rd to Pepper Court and Pepper Court from Pepper Drive to 22nd Street and State Street from Lotus to 23rd Street.
