A suspect is in custody after a Tuesday morning incident. According to El Centro Police, officers responded to the 1000 block of Olive Avenue after of a just-occurred stolen vehicle report. The vehicle was stolen following a verbal altercation between the suspect and an older woman. The victim attempted to call 911 and was then assaulted by the suspect who hen took the vehicle keys from the victim and took off in the vehicle. The car was quickly located near LaBrucherie and Adams Avenue and a high-risk traffic stop was made in a convenience store parking lot. The suspect was taken into custody and arrested. Charges include Elder Abuse, Robbery, and Possession of a Stolen Vehicle. The vehicle was returned to the victim.
