(Mosquito Pool tests positive)...County Public Health says three mosquito pools were tested in Imperial Valley.

All tested positive for West Nile Virus Two of the pools were collected July 5 in the City of Imperial The other one was collected July 6 in Holtville.. The Health Department says these are the first West Nile Virus-positive mosquito pools identified in the cities of Imperial and Holtville. The Public Health Department's Vector Control Program maintains about 52 mosquito traps throughout the county.. Traps are checked several times per week. Mosquito Pools are checked weekly. Jeff Lemoure, Deputy Director of Environmental Health says residents should continue taking precautions, including using insect repellant and limiting outdoor activity at dusk and dawn, when mosquitoes are most active.
