An early morning accident left a man dead.

The California Highway Patrol says the accident happened at about 3:30 a.m. Friday on northbound State Route 86 near Treadwell Boulevard. A Tractor-Trailer combination was northbound on 86 when a 2020 Toyota Tacoma, also northbound, slammed into the rear trailer of the big rig. As a result of the crash the pickup truck burst into flames. The driver of the Toyota died at the scene. The driver of the big rig, a 61-year-old man, apparently was not injured. The accident remains under investigation.
