Tuesday turned into a busy day for Imperial County first responders.

Imperial County Fire Department responded to a brush fire in the area of Boyd Road and the East Highland Canal. The fire quickly spread and a second alarm was issued and shorty after that a third alarm.  Responding agencies included Holtville, El Centro, Brawley, Calipatria and Calexico as well as crews from Calipatria State Prison and Centinella State Prison. The fire jumped the canal and spread onto BLM land. Crews remained on the scene into the night. 

A traffic accident at State Route 86 and Keystone Road resulted in minor injuries to one person. A big rig collided with a small sedan. A Hazardous Materials crews responded to clean u the roadway after the big rig was leaking fluids. Southbound lanes on Highway 86 were blocked for a time for the cleanup. 

Shortly after 7:00 p.m. Imperial County Fire responded to a trailer fire at Slab City.
