A woman has been sentenced to jail for embezzling from her employer.

According to the Imperial County District Attorney's Office, Misty Dawn Stacey, 51, was sentenced to 270 days in jail with an additional 3 years of supervision. Stacey pled guilty to Felony Embezzlement from her employer Plant Nutrition Services. Stacey stole thousands of dollars from the company and funneled the money into her own bank account and into the accounts of her business, Quick Rooter. According to the District Attorney, the case was not discovered until after the death of the business owner, Gary Alan Shumard. The investigation was handled by the Imperial Police Department. Some of the requirements of the supervision are that there be drug testing and a prohibition of holding any jobs in accounting, bookkeeping, or money handling of any kind.
