On Sunday night El Centro Police responded to the report of a robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.
The incident occurred in the 200 block of S. 2nd Street. The victim told officers that he was robbed and pistol-whipped by several subjects. The victim was taken to El Centro Regional Medical Center for treatment of multiple injuries. Officers were able to locate 3 suspects in the area of 400 E. Orange Avenue and all three were taken into custody, arrested and booked into Imperial County Jail. Based on information developed during the investigation, El Centro Police activated the SWAT Team and served a search warrant at the residence of one of the suspects. During the search, a stolen firearm, a high-capacity magazine, ammunition, and a collapsible stock were located. The resident of the home is a convicted felon, prohibited from possessing firearms and related items. The investigation continues.
