U.S. Border Patrol agents have arrested an individual suspected of scouting for Mexican cartels.
Yuma Sector Air Branch and Marine agents arrested the individual in the Sierra Pinta Mountains. Agents have been targeting cartel scouting activity in the Wellton area when the suspected scout was found. During a search of the site, agents discovered food supplies, what was said to be sustainment equipment and a solar panel, all indicating an extended scouting mission. The scouts are deployed by human and drug smugglers to keep track of law enforcement movements. The suspect was referred to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the State of Arizona for prosecution.
