(El Centro Police Department announced their plans for a DUI checkpoint). It will be set-up February 27th at Imperial and Holt Avenues.
It will target all impaired drivers. It will operate from 6 pm to 2 am. Officials say the site was selected based on data regarding previous impaired driving related crashes The goal of the checkpoint is a proactive one, promoting public safety by removing dangerous drivers from the road before an accident occurs. They say impaired does not only mean alcohol. Driving impairment can also be caused by by prescription and illegal drugs, And while Marijuana is legal to be used recreationally, it is still illegal to drive under the influence of Marijuana.
