A temporary pedestrian facility will be opened at the downtown Calexico Port of Entry.
U. S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials say the temporary facility is scheduled to open on Tuesday, Febriuary 10, 2026. The temporary building will be located one block east of the current pedestrian crossing areas. Up to eight processing lanes will facilitate more travel. According to CBP, all pedestrians entering and exiting to and from Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico, must use the temporary facility until the new permanent facility is completed . The completion date is tentatively set for 2029. Standard services will remain available. CBP adds that a strict no parking policy will be enforced in front of the temporary facility at First Street and Heffernan Avenue in downtown Calexico.
