(Congressman Dr. Raul Ruiz has once again been denied access)....The Congressman sought to conduct critical congressional oversight at the Adelanto Detention Facility.

The Congressman said he followed the Department of Homeland Security's internal notice policy, a process not legally required for members of Congress, yet ICE failed to respond to the notice and subsequently used their own lack of response to claim they had not provided consent for his entry. The Congressman said he was prevented from reviewing conditions that have led to a spike in fatalities. This is not the first time Ruiz has been denied access to a detention facility. Ruiz has joined a group of congressional representatives to file legal action against the Department of Homeland Security for obstructing Congressional members from conducting critical congressional oversight.
