An early Saturday morning accident claimed a life.

Yuma County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a car versus pedestrian accident in the area of S. Avenue B and W County 14th Street. Apparently the victim was walking along the side of the road when she was struck by a passing car. The vehicle, described as a sedan or a coupe, did not stop. The pedestrian, 21-year-old Mariella Acosta, of Yuma, was pronounced dead at the scene. The vehicle involved should have front passenger side damage near the headlight area.
