(Collision Wednesday Morning)....It may have been caused by the thick fog.
Areas of patchy, dense fog was reported in the early morning hours. The California Highway Patrol says it may have contributed to a two vehicle collision. The collision was reported at 6:37 Wednesday morning. It occurred on Highway 78 at Butters Road. One of the vehicles involved was a vehicle belonging to the Imperial Irrigation District. That vehicle wound up in a canal. The CHP says There were major injuries reported. Two air ambulances were called in, as was a land ambulance from AMR. Brawley Fire had to extricate one of the injured from the vehicle they were in. The injured were flown to Desert Regional Medical Center. Diesel fuel spilled out of the IID vehicle. A HazMat team was called in to clean up the spill. The collision remains under investigation
