A first-in-the-nation agricultural pest was intercepted at the San Luis Port of Entry.

U. S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agriculture specialists at the port found the pest, Osbornellus Sales, a leafhopper, in a load of radicchio from Mexico.The bug is a type of leafhopper that has not been found in the United Stated previously. The leafhopper feeds on lanes by sucking sap from grasses, trees and shrubs and some leafhoppers are known to transmit various plant diseases and pathogens. The radicchio was returned to Mexico.
